
CMO OTA, CELEBRATES FATHERS’ DAY

The Catholic Men's Organization of St. Peter Catholic Church Iganmode Road Ota Abeokuta Diocese, Ogun State celebrated the 2025 Fathers’ Day in a unique way.
In preparation for the occasion, the men under the leadership of Mr. Osuagu Vincent had a three day retreat from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th of June 2025. On the first day of the retreat, they had a lecture entitled “WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO WRITE YOUR WILL AND NEXT OF KIN” delivered by one of them, Barrister Ambrose Aisedion. The following Day, the Assistant Parish Priest, Fr. John Ajofoge gave them a lecture on “THE ROLE AND PLACE OF CMO IN THE PASTORAL MISSION OF THE CHURCH.”
Each of the retreats ended with Mass. On the last day of the retreat, the men gathered in the Church premises and engaged in sanitation exercises such as cleaning the Church, fumigation of the compound and cleaning the pews. Thereafter, they had a novelty football match with the Altar Servers of the parish. The CMO won the match by 2 goals to 1.
The Grand finale of the occasion was on Sunday, June 15 when three prominent parishioners viz: Sir Prince Pius Ogundipe, Sir Ajayi and Sir Dr. Vincent Eko were honoured as Grand Patron, Father of the Day, and Patron of the CMO respectively.
The Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the event Mr. Emmanuel Dialeme who is also a Church Warden thanked the immediate past Chairman of the CMO, Dr. Vincent Eko for his advice and suggestions which helped him greatly to successfully organize the event.
In his vote of thanks, Mr. Osuagu Vincent thanked everyone, especially the parish priest Rev. Fr. Clement Ajibola Ashade whom he said contributed over forty-five percent towards the success of the occasion.
The Catholic Women Organization of Nigeria (CWON) of the parish represented by its President Mrs. Ogedengbe Theresa presented a cake to the men to celebrate the occasion.
The Holy Childhood Association and the Catholic Youth Organization also entertained guests with their drama and cultural display.
